Dustin came to me a while ago with the idea for this track - a folk tune that you can cruise along to. I fell in love with the lines "Even though I can hardly breathe, I'm holding my breath for you." -- after all, I am a smoker. At the time we had been trying to brainstorm different concepts for an album. After determining that every instrument was in effect its own "tribe" with its own culture, we spent a couple of hours writing the middle part to this song - just the chording, mind you. When getting feedback for the song as we knew it then, most people told us that the middle part didn't really fit. We considered removing it from the song, but ultimately we decided to keep it.
