Metaphors was the song that made the studio a possibility. I was just kind of clunking around after weeks of doing nothing musically, when I decided I'd just try and record some simple guitar part. It sounded pretty good, so I tried a slide part. The slide part hooked me. The lyrics just came into their own being during the recording process. I do like the notion of a song being a metaphor that expresses that it's a metaphor of the notion. (?)
